Conducted a Seminar on Ansys at Smt. Indira Gandhi College of Engineering
Ansys, Inc. develops and markets CAE/Multiphysics engineering simulation software for product Design, Testing and Operation. Ansys Workbench is one such software that is taught as a course in Analysis and Design at the Milestone Institute of Technology. Recently, MIT had organized a Seminar on Ansys for students of B.E. Mechanical at the Indira Gandhi College of Engineering. The Seminar consisted of a 1-Hour interactive session on Computer Aided technologies and Ansys Workbench which was followed by a hands-on session where the students were introduced to the software and simulation.
During the interactive session, the students were first introduced to the concept of Computer Aided Engineering(CAE) and how it is related to Simulation and Analysis. Various kinds of CAE techniques and concepts were touched upon during the session like, Multi- body Dynamics(MBD), Product Optimization, Finite Element Analysis(FEA), Kinematics and Process Simulation to name a few. The need for Simulation and also it’s various applications were explained to the students with the help of projects and examples from the industry. Throughout the session students were encouraged to ask questions and in this way an interactive atmosphere was created to help them absorb the concepts discussed in a better way.
Later, the students were given a hands-on experience with Ansys Workbench, where they were shown how an actual simulation is set up and executed on Ansys. This comprised of a problem statement related to Structural Analysis of a mechanical system. The students were instructed to follow the steps performed by the instructor. During this session, the students were introduced to the Ansys Workbench User Interface and the different features of the software that would help them throughout the simulation process. Ansys Workbench comprises different modules like the Design Modeller, Mechanical APDL etc. Their significance was stated and elaborated to the students. They were explained about the workflow of a simulation, highlighting the importance of an organized approach while working on Ansys Workbench.
At the end, the expert was open to questions from the students about the software and any other doubts from the seminar. Answering their questions the expert also motivated them for a career in Design and Analysis.
